Survivor Pool Buybacks

Our NFL Survivor pools can be configured with a buyback option. Such a league will be required to have 2 or more lives configured. When a player loses, they always lose one life. If they have 1 life left and buybacks are configured for the league, that remaining life is only redeemable by doing a buyback. The amount of the buyback, and the last week a buyback option is available is configured by the manager. When a buyback occurs, the total pot is adjusted accordingly on the Standings page. The total amount of buybacks through the season is also shown.
NOTE: The rules do not change regarding how many times the same team can be picked. That is, a buyback doesn't reset a player's team usage.

Player Responsibilities

If you lose and have the option of a buyback, beginning on Tuesday morning go to your ‘My Picks’ page. If the manager requires approval of buybacks, the ‘My Picks’ page will not allow you to make a pick and will inform you to contact your manager. Once the manager approves you, you’ll be able to make a pick. If the manager does not require approval of a buyback, or has already approved you, the ‘My Picks’ page will permit you to make a pick, and will also confirm your desire to do a buyback when you submit your pick. The cost of the buyback as configured by your manager will be indicated in the confirmation message.

Manager Responsibilities

Beginning on Tuesday morning you can start managing buybacks via the Manager > Manage Buybacks page. If you configure your league to require your approval of a buyback, you can use this page to approve buybacks for individual players who lost that week. If you do not require approval, you don’t need to do anything. The player will be asked to confirm their desire for the buyback when they submit their pick, and by doing so are agreeing to the buyback cost.

2nd Place Bracket Leagues

If you do a buyback in a 2nd place Bracket league, it moves you from the 2nd place bracket into the 1st place bracket. It does not buy you an extra life. If you lose again you’re out, you don’t drop to the 2nd place bracket since you have 2 losses. Essentially its 1st place or nothing when you do a buyback. The only scenario where you can still take 2nd place is if everyone else except 1st place has been eliminated and you have the highest Strength of Victory.
